Esther | Backpacker Profile

Thank you for your time Esther, please get us started with a quick introduction about yourself?

My name is Esther, I’m 26 years-old. I’m from the Bask Country but currently living in Barcelona (Spain) and I am planning a big trip soon.

Barcelona is amazing.

What has been your all time favorite place?

I lived in Chile during 2 years and I had the chance to travel all along the country, one of my favorite places until now is probably the Desert of San Pedro de Atacama in the North of Chile. But I must admit that I also reeeeeally liked Formentera (trust me, it’s paradise) in the Balears Islands. Water is So blue!

We will have to check out Forementera!

Could you share with your all time favorite photo you have taken travelling?

I’m unable to chose only one…

Here are pictures of the most impressive places I have been :

– Machu Picchu in Peru, it’s definitly a magic place…

– Sheik Zahayed in Abu Dhabi it’s the most beautiful Mosque I’ve ever seen

– San Sebastian and the beach of “La Concha” because it is where I come from

Some excellent photos!

What is your top backpacking tip?

If you are travelling alone, try to avoid to arrive in a new city by night – most of the time it will be more dangerous and transports more expensive.

Great advice!

Which thing should every backpacker carry with them?

Always have a “belt pocket” you know these belts where you can have your money and your mobile phone close to you to avoid any robbery.

Good tip!

What has been your favorite food whilst away?

When I was in Peru I ate a tipical plate called “Aji de Gallina” and I totally fell in love with it! It’s composed with chicken, rice, eggs, nuts, and a lot of delicious peruvian spicies. Home made it’s even better!

That sounds and looks beautiful!

What has been your favorite experience whilst away?

Well, I’ve got a lots but I’ll always remember myself in Patagonia observing how the stars could be SO shiny in the sky.

That sounds beautiful!

Where would you like to visit?

Wahoo I’ve got so many countries on my list ! Asia, Africa, Australia, New-Zealand, many countries I missed in America… World is so big and has so much to offer.

You’re absolutely correct, there is so much to see out there!

Do you have any words of advice or inspiration for anyone undecided about travelling?

Travel will give you the best freedom you will ever have.

Finally, What quote do you try to live by?

You only live once : listen to your heart and follow your dreams.
