Name: Adriana Danielovicova
Country: Slovakia/Czech Republic
So Adriana can you give us a quick introduction about yourself?
Hey, I am Adriana, student of international relations and affairs/economics.
I am from a little big country in the eastern Europe – Slovakia, but I study in the amazing city of Prague, Czech republic.
My biggest passion is traveling and taking pictures when doing so. I have traveled most of the Europe and couple of states on the U.S.’ east coast. During my one semester study in California I have also seen the most beautiful places on the west coast. There is so much to see in this amazing world! I am posting pictures from my travels on my instagram page.
Where are you in the world currently?
A month ago I got back home to Slovakia from California, but as a new semester is about to start, I am already packing my stuff to live in Prague for another year.
Slovakia is an amazing little country with everything you can wish for on such a little space – history, modern architecture, forests, lakes and beautiful mountains. On the other hand, Prague is definitely one of the most wonderful cities in the world, with its almost unreal architecture and cozy atmosphere. It’s perfect to be able to switch between calm, peaceful countryside and big vibrant city anytime you want!
Where do you plan to get to this year?
This year I am definitely gonna visit Scandinavia – Denmark and hopefully Sweden and Norway.
I also plan on going to Moscow and couple of cities in Germany. But you never know what life will bring to you! I am open for everything!
What has been your all time favorite place?
I would say Prague, but I just desperately fell in love with the west coast of the US last year. The nature there is just awesome – you can be in the desert, mountains with snow or at the beach within a day!
I will never forget the northern road around Grand Canyon – I have never seen anything so amazing before. Rocks and deserts with the little Indian reservations, calm roads with ranches around, driving through mountains and passing Zion and Bryce Canyon and then suddenly Las Vegas pops up… that’s just priceless. And when all these memories are also connected with the best people I could have met, I can definitely not think about any place in the world that would mean so much to me.
Could you share us your all time favorite photo you have taken travelling?
There is nothing really special about this picture, there are plenty of the similar ones everywhere. But it is just connected to one of the best trips ever with the best girls! We got to San Francisco before 6AM and we took an Uber to the Golden Gate Bridge to see the sunrise. We wanted to cross the bridge, but it was so windy and cold, we were freezing! We weren’t even in the middle of the bridge when we realized that we can’t make it to the other side until the sun rises, so we rushed back to the beginning. And it was one of the most beautiful sunrises I have ever seen. And then I took this picture of the bridge before it got all foggy, haha.
I think there is a story behind every picture and that’s so nice about it:
What is your top backpacking tip?
I would just say not to pack a lot of unimportant things. You don’t need a whole suitcase of clothes for a weekend trip, I think that’s the most common mistake to pack all the different stuff with “What if..” – no, you won’t need most of it!
Which thing should every backpacker carry with them? – Saying mobile phones isn’t allowed, be creative 😉
Camera, definitely. At some point in your life you will want to remind yourself of all the places you have seen – that’s where the pictures will come in handy. I am currently using Olympus PEN E-PL 5. It is a perfect compromise between heavy DSLR’s and phones, which, let me tell you the truth, will never take as good pictures as cameras. So invest in a good camera, you will never regret that.
Do you have any words of advice or inspiration for anyone undecided about travelling?
Just take every chance life offers you. Go, explore! Life is not meant to be lived in one place.
What has been your favorite activity whilst away?
Is it too bad to say party? Haha, I guess that’s the best way to get to know people!
Adriana is right, parties are a great way to meet new people whilst backpacking, alcohol certainly loosens people up! – Just drink in moderation 😉
Thanks for your time Adriana, that was a brilliant interview! You will have to get back in touch with us in the future to tell us all about your adventures in Prague 🙂
